Affordable Care Act Help

Salt Lake County launches its own

webpage for Affordable Care Act help

The Affordable Care Act – also known as healthcare
reform—sets out new requirements and resources
for consumers so that they can help navigate the
changing health insurance coverage system.
Surveys show that many Utahns are unsure
about the new law and how they can find reliable,
accurate information.  Healthcare reform seeks to
expand coverage.
But achieving that goal depends on consumers’
ability to effectively participate in health coverage
in ways that have been unavailable until now.
With this website, I hope we can help you
with answers to questions such as:
  • How can I find coverage?
  • What will it cost?
  • When will I see the benefits?
Health care is a very personal issue that
touches all our lives. My hope is that the information
available here assists you and your family in making
the best possible choice for you.

to find help.

Support for Postpartum Depression

http://welcomebabyuc.blogspot.com/2013/03/postpartum-health.html

POSTPARTUM HEALTH

DO YOU?......

·  Feel sad or depressed?

·  Feel more irritable or angry with those around you?

·  Feel you are having difficulty bonding with your baby?

·  Feel anxious or panicky?

·  Have problems with eating or sleeping?

·  Have upsetting thoughts that you can’t get out
of your mind?

·  Feel as if you are “out of control” or “going crazy”?

·  Feel like you never should have become a mother?

·  Worry that you might hurt your baby or yourself?

By seeking for professional care and help you can lessen these

symptoms and recover quickly and fully.

Postpartum depression is the most widely used term. There are
actually many types of illness women may experience including:

Postpartum Depression
Feelings of anger, sadness, exhaustion, guilt, lack of interest in the baby,
eating and sleeping habits change, hopelessness thoughts, difficulty
concentrating etc.

Postpartum Anxiety
Fear and worries over the safety and health of the baby are common. Panic
attacks may occur along with shortness of breath, chest pain, dizziness, loss of control.

Postpartum Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
Behavior such as repetitive, upsetting/unwanted thoughts may occur,
along with repeating the same actions over and over again to reduce the
anxiety caused by those thoughts.

Postpartum Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
This is often caused as a result of a frightening or traumatic childbirth.
Flashbacks commonly occur of the trauma and feeling anxious to
avoid anything that relates to the event.

Postpartum Psychosis

Halloween fears: Is your toddler afraid of people wearing masks?

Here's what the ZERO TO THREE National Center for Infants, Toddlers, and Families suggests you can do to make Halloween a little less spooky for your child:http://www.zerotothree.org/child-development/

  • Provide some (non-frightening) masks for your child to play with in the weeks before Halloween. Having your child peek through the eye-holes, and seeing you do the same, will help to de-sensitize him before the 31st rolls around.
  • Trick-or-treat during the daytime—or skip it altogether. Many organizations—preschools, malls, churches or synagogues—have Halloween programs that don’t require going out at night.
  • If you do go out, avoid those houses with the dry-ice fog! Some families really get into the Halloween holiday (which is great), but these are the houses to skip on your Halloween route. Your little goblin doesn’t need to have the armless hand give him candy or be startled by the stuffed witch that cackles on a motion detector. Stick to houses you know, so your child will be greeted by friendly faces at the door. Walk up and ring the bell with your little one, and crouch down next to her in case she feels unsure.
  • How to handle trick-or-treaters at your door? One answer is to let someone else have the door-answering honors while you and your child play in another room. But if you want your child to participate in handing out candy, first take a peek outside to see whether your visitors are more Casper or Poltergeist. If they’re scary-ish, you may want to hand off your toddler to another adult, and do a solo Snickers distribution this time. If your trick-or-treaters appear to be friendly ghosts, get down at your child’s level and open the door slowly. As you do, tell your child what costumes he will see. If you know the kids, you can ask them to take their masks off so your toddler recognizes who they are “underneath.”

With you there to help and support him, your child will make it through Halloween night—especially once he realizes just what’s in those goody bags he keeps getting at every house.

Your home could be full of potential hazards!

Safe Trick-or-Treating Tips

Here are some great tips from Kaboose.com:
Have adult supervision. Accompany your kids if you don’t think they’re old enough to trick-or-treat on their own.
There is safety in numbers. If they’re old enough to trick-or-treat without an adult, tell your kids to stay in a group.
Map out your plan. Designate a route before your kids begin trick-or-treating, and make sure they stick to it.
Take the long way 'round. Have your kids trick-or-treat in areas where there are a lot of people around. They should also avoid taking short-cuts through alleys and parking lots.
Try tick-or-treat-friendly homes. Ensure your kids only visit houses with lights on. And, you might also suggest the houses they visit have some sort of Halloween decoration on the porch.
Stay outside. Make sure your kids don’t go inside someone’s house. They can get their candy from the porch.
Remain visible. Dress your kids in a bright costume so others can see them. If their costume is dark, have your kids wear reflective strips or carry a glow stick or flashlight.
Remember, shorter = safer.Goes without saying but just in case you forget, ensure your kids’ costumes aren’t so long that they can trip over them.
Don't cover the face. Instead of masks, have your kids wear make-up so they can see better.
Quality-check treats. Check your kids’ candy before they eat it. Throw out any candy that is not in its original wrapper or looks like it has been tampered with.
Say "no" to strangers.Tell your kids to never accept a ride or go anywhere with a stranger.
Obey the law. Encourage your kids to follow all the regular rules for walking around. That includes looking both ways before crossing, obeying all traffic laws and using cross walks and crossing lights where available.
Have a great time! Finally, make sure your kids have tons of fun and get lots and lots of candy.
